?Having the opportunity to explore while you are in the UK is an important part of any Study Abroad Experience. Here you will find information about travelling outside of London including day and weekend trips, plus hints on budget flight options.
We asked our staff their favorite “different” day trips outside of London and they suggested some of the following:
Bath and Stonehenge
We know this is a must see but for those of you who want to do something a bit different then visit the Fashion Museum, Jane Austen’s House and the Roman Baths. If you are there for a bit longer than check out the spa too. Great for relaxing!
This may sound a little strange but there is a wonderful museum here about the life of Roald Dahl. There are also plenty of beautiful walks and even better you can get there by tube!
Windsor and Eton
Apart from the castle of course there are lots of things to do and see here and it is a very “British” town. Eton College is interesting to see too. If you like walking then you can go along the river to places like Marlow too.
We love Winchester at any time but at Christmas they have some wonderful markets. The Cathedral is a must see and there is a great deli nearby to pick up snacks to eat.
This ancient town just outside of London is rarely visited by tourists but there are plenty of things to see, especially for those interested in history, archeology and architecture. Don’t miss the Cathedral and the Roman ruins
Of course there are a wealth of other options available. We are happy to offer ideas; feel free to ask!
